About Nastix Patterns
A focused tool for creating sewing patterns online from measurements.
Why this project exists
Nastix Patterns was created to make sewing pattern drafting simpler, cleaner, and more accessible for beginners, students, and independent designers. Instead of complex CAD systems, the goal is a fast browser-based workflow with practical printable output.
Focused pattern building
We focus on practical garment blocks and construction details that can be generated from measurements, previewed, and exported for printing. The library currently holds 25 generators: the base blocks — skirt, bodice, sleeve, dress, T-shirt, tank top, basic pants and basic shorts — alongside the detail pieces that finish a garment: hood, collar, neck facing, armhole facing, waistband, belt loop, sleeve cuff, sleeve placket, front placket, skirt vent, patch pocket, inseam pocket, welt pocket, slant pocket, pocket flap and zipper fly.
Generated drafts, not guaranteed production patterns
Nastix Patterns creates calculated drafting guides from the measurements and settings you enter, not guaranteed ready-made industrial patterns. Always verify the measurements, print scale, seam allowances, and fit on a test garment before cutting final fabric.

How the generators draft a pattern
Every tool on Nastix Patterns is built around a drafting block — the same kind of construction a patternmaker draws by hand, expressed as code. When you enter your measurements, the block computes the geometry of each piece: dart intakes are calculated from the difference between your waist and hip values, armhole and neckline curves are drawn as Bézier curves fitted to your proportions, and ease is applied where you chose it, not baked invisibly into a standard size.
The result is exported as vector geometry, which is why the same pattern can be downloaded as a tiled A4 PDF for home printing, a single-sheet copyshop PDF, or an SVG file that opens in any vector editor if you want to modify the pieces further.
How accuracy is verified
The generators are covered by automated checks for calculations, geometry, export routes and selected input combinations. Some garment constructions also calculate lengths for seams that must join, such as side seams, waist edges, facings or bands. A diagnostic confirms only the relationship it names; it does not prove garment fit or validate every seam in a pattern.
Printable output includes a 5 × 5 cm test square and tiled pages include join marks. These features let you check printer scaling and page assembly yourself. They do not prove that the draft has been physically printed, sewn or fit-tested by the project.
How Nastix Patterns is developed
The drafting code turns measurements and construction settings into original vector geometry rather than serving a licensed library of fixed-size pattern files. Tests cover calculation rules, expected labels, printable exports and selected edge cases. When a visual or construction problem is found, the corresponding geometry, explanation and regression coverage are revised together.
Nastix Patterns is an independent tool collection within the Nastix Design ecosystem. Generative AI is used to produce generator code and editorial drafts; the resulting implementation is then checked with automated tests and targeted inspection of browser previews and downloaded files. The project does not claim that every output has been physically printed, sewn or fit-tested.
Each generator page carries a recorded review date for its implementation and documentation. That date is a maintenance record, not a professional certification or proof of a sewn sample. If a calculation, label or curve looks wrong, the contact page explains how to send a reproducible report.
What the tools do not do
A generated block is a precise starting point, not a guarantee of perfect fit — posture, asymmetry, and fabric behaviour still matter, which is why every guide on this site recommends checking the paper pattern against your body and sewing a quick muslin for fitted garments. The generators also do not replace fitting skills for complex alterations such as full-bust adjustments; they give you a clean, correctly-proportioned base to alter from.
All tools are free to use and work directly in the browser. Measurements you enter are kept in your session to prefill related tools — for example, carrying your bodice neckline into the collar and facing generators — and are not required to create an account.
