Front, back and straight waistband
The download contains front and back shorts pieces, a straight waistband, waist darts when selected, seam and hem allowances, grainlines, thigh and hip guides, and a 5 × 5 cm print test square.
Step 1
Choose a shorts preset and adjust the body, length, ease, and construction settings.
This shorts pattern is a calculated base draft based on the measurements and settings you enter.
Always sew a test garment, check crotch depth, seat fit, waist position, thigh comfort, and leg opening before cutting final fabric.
Measure where the waistband should sit, not necessarily the narrowest body point.
Measure around the fullest part of the hips and seat.
Use the vertical distance from waist level to crotch level for the basic block.
Measure from crotch level to the desired shorts hem.
Use finished circumference targets for the leg opening and shorts shape.
Increase ease for relaxed or culotte fits; reduce cautiously only after a test garment.
Before generating
Use the notes below to understand which measurements shape the draft, which options change construction, and what should be measured again when values conflict. Presets are starting points; the submitted values drive the result.

Waist and hips establish the upper block; rise and inseam control the crotch and finished length. Thigh and hem circumferences determine leg room and silhouette.
Presets offer useful starting proportions for everyday, loose, wide, and shorter styles. All measurements and ease settings remain editable before the pattern is recalculated.
