Step 1 ยท Measurements

Enter body measurements and wrap construction choices

All values are centimetres. Body circumferences do not include ease. Presets are editable starting points, not sizing guarantees.

Level measure around the fullest bust, before ease.

Measure at the line where the ties should sit.

Around the fullest seat and hips.

High shoulder/neck point to waist at the back.

High shoulder/neck point over the bust to waist.

Neck base to shoulder point.

Vertical back-neck level to underarm level.

Horizontal distance between bust points.

High shoulder/neck point to bust point.

Finished visible length before hem allowance.

Ease, coverage, ties, bindings, and allowances

Added to the body circumferences; not wrap overlap.

Positive values widen the complete hem.

Vertical level where the edge crosses centre front before reaching the waist overlap.

Coverage added to each front beyond centre front.

The cut strip is doubled plus seam allowances.

From its attachment to the pointed end.

For anchoring the hidden underlap.

Cut width for neckline and armhole strips.

Dashed cutting distance around sewn edges.

Depth below the finished hem line.

Controls how strongly the foundation follows the waist.

How the construction is calculated

Body first. Bust, waist, hips, bodice balance, shoulder, armhole, and bust point create the fitted foundation.

Wrap second. The front crosses centre by the selected overlap and receives independent long and short ties.

Finishing last. The diagonal neckline and armhole curves are measured before their bias-strip lengths are set.

Before generating

How these inputs affect this pattern

Use the notes below to understand which measurements shape the draft, which options change construction, and what should be measured again when values conflict. Presets are starting points; the submitted values drive the result.

Overlap

Coverage is measured from centre front

Wrap overlap is the horizontal distance each front continues beyond centre at the waist. More overlap improves static coverage but also adds fabric and can create bulk. It is not the same as ease: ease changes the garment circumference, while overlap changes how far one front lies over the other.

Neckline

The diagonal edge needs stability

The front edge runs from the shoulder-neck point, through the selected crossover depth, to the measured overlap beyond centre front at the waist. Because this edge contains bias, it can stretch during handling. Stay it promptly, avoid hanging the unfinished dress, and compare the binding with the actual solid sewing line before attaching it.

Ties

The hidden and visible ties are intentionally unequal

Both ties attach at the waist end of their mirrored wrap edges, not at the pattern's own side seam. The short tie anchors the underlap inside; the long tie passes through the marked opening in the opposite side seam and around the body. Transfer the two opening marks to the matching back seam and reinforce its ends. Length depends on waist, knot style, and desired tail, so one automatic ratio cannot suit every closure plan.
