A connected hoodie, not a collection of parts
The default sample combines a roomy sweatshirt body, side-neck-to-wrist raglan sleeve, two-piece hood, rib cuffs and waistband, and one optional pocket. Changing body width rebuilds the neckline and its hood attachment together.

Raglan hoodie construction
A hood changes the neckline finish, bulk at the side neck, and the order in which the garment is assembled. This generator keeps the structural raglan seams from the complete top and replaces the neckband with a two-piece hood whose lower edge is calculated against the actual opening.
Stable sweatshirt fleece, French terry, and ponte need different room from highly elastic jersey. Compare the generated finished chest with a hoodie that moves well in a fabric of similar stretch and weight.
Height affects head coverage; depth affects how far the opening projects. Neither number can predict vision, hair volume, or drawstring behaviour, so baste the hood before finishing the neckline.
Cuffs and waistband are drafted as component dimensions, but rib recovery varies widely. Make a short sample, then adjust rib length only after checking its stretch and rebound.
A kangaroo pocket is a style and use choice, not a fit correction. Position it on a toile with hands inside; ensure the opening and lower corners do not interfere with the waistband seam.
Join front-to-sleeve and back-to-sleeve seams using the front and back marks, close side and underarm seams, then evaluate the assembled neckline before attaching the hood.
Walk, reach forward, lift both arms, and turn your head while the hood is basted. Seam matching confirms the paper interfaces, while the toile reveals posture, fabric recovery, and preferred silhouette.
Drafting choices that affect a wearable hoodie
The pattern resolves the connected geometry: raglan pairs, the complete neckline, and hood attachment. It deliberately does not pretend to solve every fabric and styling decision. A well-fitting hoodie depends on knit recovery, rib stretch, shoulder posture, layering, and the way the wearer expects the hood to sit.
Chest ease controls room around the torso; hem ease controls the lower circumference before the rib waistband. A relaxed hoodie often needs both, but a rib waistband may draw the finished hem in more than the body fabric.
The sleeve measure passes over the shoulder and a slightly bent elbow to the wrist. It is not the shorter underarm length. The generated underarm seam follows from that coordinated geometry.
The centre hood seam shapes the head volume; the lower hood edge joins the assembled garment opening. Sew and press the centre seam before basting the hood to the neckline, then assess both head room and balance.
A lined hood, heavy fleece, or a drawstring channel adds thickness at the same point where four raglan neckline sections meet. Grade, press, and choose seam finishing suitable for the fabric; do not assume one finish works for every knit.

How and when
This generator converts the entered measurements into vector geometry. Where a construction has related seams, the software can calculate their lengths; preview, SVG, copyshop PDF, and tiled A4 PDF are produced from the same geometry. These software checks do not replace printing, sewing, or fitting a test sample.

Raglan hoodie questions
It is a complete raglan hoodie system: front, back, one asymmetric sleeve cut as a mirrored pair, a two-piece hood, two cuffs, waistband, and an optional kangaroo pocket. The hood is derived from the generated neckline.
The hood replaces the neckband. Its lower seam is calculated to the assembled neckline made by the front, back, and both sleeves. Add a separate facing or lining only after testing the extra bulk in your fabric.
The preview compares the target neckline length with the calculated hood attachment length. That is a geometry check on solid sewing lines; verify print scale and walk the cut pieces before sewing.
Use knit fabric such as sweatshirt fleece, French terry, ponte, or stable jersey. Select ease after comparing stretch and recovery with a favourite hoodie, and use rib knit or an equally recovering knit for cuffs and waistband.
Treat them as a starting point. Test the pocket on the body piece before sewing; hand position, body length, and waistband height can make a different placement more useful.
